ChooseFromList in grid with query

I can't find a simple example of having a grid with a custom query and adding a ChooseFromList in a field in a column.

How would this work? I see ChooseFromListUID and ChooseFromListAlias on the column, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to use those.

Can someone give me a few lines of code to push me in the right direction?
